I am a trainer and …
I am a trainer and I an assistant strength and conditioning coach and I’m also currently getting my masters in Exercise Science, and I could not agree with you more. One of the first things we tell our athletes is that supplements are a waste. Not only that, but just about every single person living in an industrialized nation already exceeds their daily protein requirement as it is, so more is not only a waste but it’s adversely affecting health at that point. Also no supplement is FDA approved

so many people …
so many people worry about protein postworkout and totally forget about carbs in postworkout and the insulin opportunity to refuel glycogen levels and the opportunuity to charge the aminos into the muscles faster with the carbs. too many people get fancy with the brand they take Musclemilk, Opt. Nutrition, BSN Syntha 6, Muscletech’s Nitrotech and but they forget about carbs. Carbs are way more important in post workout than protein.

Fat does not make …
Fat does not make the body absorb protein faster, quite the opposite, it slows the digestion down. Which is why you never want to have fat in your post workout nutrition because it will blunt the absorption of carbs and proteins. Saturated fat is not to be avoided because it helps regulate testosterone levels, but NEVER after workout out.

So many guys on …
So many guys on here worrying about supplements. Forget em and eat real food! Most of the worlds biggest strongest well built people dont even bother with supplements or if they do then only a little and they dont make a big deal out of it.

The problem with …
The problem with protein shakes is that they have too little fat, and fat, especially if it’s saturated fat, actually helps the body absorb the protein faster.

I’m a fan of EAS …
I’m a fan of EAS vanilla powder, it tastes fantastic and doesn’t have a ton of fat like some of the other ones that actually taste good. Although there may be some ingredient I passed over without realizing it’s bad but it’s mostly protein from what I can tell. I got a 5lb bag for 33 bucks at a wholesale store.

The best protein …
The best protein ever! Yeah, I’m addicted to Monster Milk, the chocolate flavor is probably the best. The strawberry not so much. Haven’t tried vanilla but the chocolate is even better than the regular Muscle Milk one. I just wish they did the chocolate mint flavor for Monster Milk…
February 16th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
Look for Monster …
Look for Monster milk made by the same people that make muscle milk only 9 grams of fat 3 grams saturated but it has 50 grams of protein per serving and only 4 grams of sugar.
