How Does Body Building Affect The Growth Of A Teenage?

Written by admin on September 6, 2009

I was thinking about building my body since i have a short height...would it affect it the more?

Much, much, much more important for a young teen to build up his stamina through aerobic exercise (running, calisthenics, jazzercise, etc).

It starts with a trip to your doctor to have your vital signs like blood-pressure taken, and to get tips on a training regimen and a healthy diet.

Unless you are close to fully grown, weight-lifting or body-building is not the way to go.

i’m pretty sure I played football in hs and now I regret it. I used to squat a lot like almost 300 lbs and I think that affected my height. Now i’m 20 and only 5-8. I’ll do anything to grow a few more inches. workout but not with too much weight specially squats.

It is unwise to start weightlifting under the age of 16 – to give your muscles time to fully develop. You cannot enlarge muscles that haven’t completely developed. If you are over age 16 – to achieve the results desired, you MUST be dedicated, disciplined, & determined or you can forget it. It means dumping junk food, fast food garbage & sugary sweet soda’s & eating healthy. No smoking, no beer, no booze & no drugs.

There are currently no randomized clinical trials demonstrating that lifting weights as a teen stunts your growth. Teenagers may be more likely to be injured by lifting, i.e. inexperience and improper lifting techniques.
